WordPress hosting

WordPress without a VPS — and when a VPS is the better fit.

What you get

WordPress hosting is the application on a platform Steady runs. You do not get root. Updates, PHP version and SSL follow what that product exposes in the portal. A website subscription already includes hosting for the site we build — do not stack WordPress hosting on top unless we said the site is moving off that stack.

When a VPS is better

Heavy WooCommerce, custom PHP that shared hosting will not allow, Redis, or several WordPress installs you want to isolate: use a VPS (self-service or managed) and install WordPress yourself or with us under a managed scope.

Backups and plugins

Keep a copy of wp-content and the database even when the product shows backups. Do not install every plugin you see in a blog post; each one is attack surface and RAM. Caching plugins fight each other — pick one stack and stick to it.
