Nameservers
Up to four nameservers. They decide who answers DNS for the domain.
What nameservers do
Nameservers are the servers the registry publishes for your domain. If they point at Steady’s managed DNS, you edit records in the Steady portal. If they point at Cloudflare, a VPS, or another host, that other system is authoritative — Steady’s DNS editor will not be the live zone.
How to change them
On the domain page, set one to four hosts (for example ns1.example.net). Save. Propagation to resolvers takes time; the registry update is usually quicker than global cache. A pending-change flag means the nameserver update is not confirmed yet.
Hosting and VPS
For Steady website hosting, use the nameservers we give you for that product. For a VPS you manage yourself, either keep DNS at Steady (A records to the VPS IPv4) or run your own nameservers on the VPS — do not mix both without knowing which is authoritative.
